How we research
We base our explanations on primary sources: tsp.gov and FRTIB publications, OPM retirement guidance, IRS publications and contribution limits, the Social Security Administration and the Defense Finance and Accounting Service. Market figures and TSP share prices come from official TSP data and widely used market data providers.
Some first drafts, including the daily TSP market recaps, are prepared with the help of AI writing tools using only the data we supply. Every page is held to the same standard: it must be accurate, specific to federal and military retirement, and useful on its own.
Accuracy and updates
Rules change. We review guides when contribution limits, COLAs, pay tables or retirement rules change, and we show the published date on every article. If you spot an error, tell us through the contact page and we will correct it promptly.
